Sócrates Brasileiro Sampaio de Souza Vieira de Oliveira, simply known as Sócrates, was born on February 19, 1954, in Belém, Brazil, and he passed away on December 4, 2011.

Sócrates is widely regarded as one of the greatest Brazilian footballers of all time. He played a prominent role in the Brazilian national team during the 1982 and 1986 FIFA World Cups.
